The IKK held the latest of its Knockdown courses in Mullingar Dojo on Saturday 6th September.

The training was held at Mullingar Dojo with visiting students from all the Kyokushin Dojos throughout Ireland.  The goal is preparation for the forthcoming British and European Cup in London where the IKK will have a number of very strong competitors in all categories both male and female, novice and open.


The morning session was run by Sensei Ken Fitzpatrick and the afternoon training was run by Sensei Shane Mulhall. This will be the last Open Knockdown session before the forthcoming IKK Summer camp from 26-28 September 2014. Two weeks later is the BKK Open. The Open Knockdown sessions will recommence at the end of October (Venue and date TBC)

On Saturday 9th August 2014 the IKK held its latest knockdown squad training for its fighters. We had the usual mix of cadets, novices and experienced campaigners. It was great to see some new faces coming along to these sessions.The sessions were run by Sensei Shane Lalor. We had fighters from dojos all across Ireland.


The morning session started with a comprehensive warm up and was followed by 80 minutes of sparring. We then had a break for lunch. During the second session we had a more technical focus. Areas covered included footwork, conditioning and block and counter drills. We finished off with some pad work and a good warm down.

Many thanks to Galway dojo for hosting this session. The next Knockdown session is tentatively scheduled for September 6th in Mullingar Dojo from 11.00 - 13.00  and then again from 14.00 - 16.00. Cost €10.

Just a reminder that the next knockdown squad session for Cadets and Seniors will be held in Galway Dojo on Saturday 9th August 2014.

The sessions will run from 11.00 - 13.00 and then again after lunch from 14.00 - 16.00. The cost is €10.00.

Please bring the following:

• Shin instep pads
• Wraps or gloves
• Skipping Rope
• Any focus pads you have
  
• Licence
• water
• pen and paper
• Training / running shoes
• Lunch

Please do encourage people from your dojo to go - the more that attend the better the sessions will be. We had an excellent session last time in Westport Dojo and we would like to see more people at this one in preparation for the upcoming tournaments.

Sensei Shane Mulhal will be running a one hour Knockdown session for the summer on Wednesday nights in Swords at the park opposite Swords Dojo. Please see here for a map. Start time is 19.30.

It will be an outdoor session regardless of weather including: sprints, padwork, kettlebells and fitness.

This will start on Wednesday 23rd July and end on Wednesday 27th August.

The sessions were run by the knockdown coach Sensei Shane Mulhal who was assisted on the day by Sensei Shane Lalor. We had fighters from Westport, Galway, Letterfrack, Finglas, Mullingar, Killester and Swords.

The morning session started with a comprehensive warm up and was followed by 75 minutes of sparring. We then had a break for lunch. During the second session we had a more technical focus. Areas covered included footwork, conditioning and block and counter drills.
