After the 3rd World Tournament was over Shihan Doug Turnbull and his wife Sharon continured on their travels
and visited Ireland for a few days during which time we were fortunate enough
to have Shihan Doug come training with us in Killester Dojo. Shihan
Turnbull holds the rank of Godan and is the Chief instructor for
IFK Australia. Some of us had met Shihan Doug at the 2nd IFK
World Black belt course in Switzerland in November 2004 and so we
had remained in contact during the intervening time. Sadly Shihan
only had time to train with us once in killester but we did get
the oppurtunity to talk to him later in a social capacity. Shihan
spoke of Neuro lingusitics and the many challenges facing
instructors in teaching. He is very down to earth and approachable
but still maintains high standards of discipline and gave us
plenty to think about. Our Junior class that evening was mainly
clicker and Shihan himself said he learnt some new things which
he would implement before the upcoming World Junior Tournament
regarding Clicker.
