The IKK held the second of its national gradings for 2014 in Gaelic Street dojo over the weekend of the 12th and 13th December. Over the course of the weekend we had four people attempting 2nd kyu, two people attempting Shodan and two people attempting Nidan.
The Friday night was for Dan grade candidates only. The temperature had dropped to -4 so the venue was very cold. With this in mind Shihan Kevin Callan, who was assisted by Sensei Shane Lalor, ensured everyone was suitably warmed up. Most of Friday night was spent on the Physical test along with many technical aspects.
On Saturday they were joined by the rest of the grading candidates and approximately 15 others who had come along to train. Everyone was put through their paces with emphasis Kihon in the morning and on Kata and Renraku in the afternoon, finishing with an hour of Kumite.
At the end of the day Shihan Kevin was please to announce the promotion to 2nd Kyu of:
Also promoted were the IKKs newest Senpais:
And our newest Nidans:
Congratulations to all who were successful.
