Senpai Dave King of the IKK Galway dojo held his first grading of the year on Saturday 22nd January 2011. The grading had to be rescheduled from December of last year due to the bad weather. The IKK has a panel of grading instructors and today it was Sensei Shane Lalor who took charge of proceedings. The following report was submitted by Michelle Giltrap of Finglas Dojo.

On Sat 12th Nov 2005, Sensei Kevin Callan graded a very large number of people at the Mullingar Dojo from 9.00a.m to 4.00p.m. A very broad spectrum of belts from 10th kyu to 2nd kyu were grading on the day kicking off with 10th kyu at 9.00 a.m. and following on through to 3rd kyu until 12.30 p.m.

Paces were raised high on the day and it was great to see the big effort that was put in by everyone. Kyokushin spirit was consistent throughout the grading and when the going got tough everyone pushed each other with budo and kiai.

The higher grades (2nd-1st Kyu) then followed through in the afternoon from 2.00 to 4.00 p.m with a further two hour grading and all were successful. Sensei Kevin commented on how good it was to see that people from different clubs could come together and show uniformity in answers to questions.

Overall it was a very tough but enjoyable day for everyone.

The following promotions were made to Brown Belt:

James Neale - Mullingar - 2nd Kyu

Eugene McGiveney - Mullingar - 2nd Kyu

Michelle Giltrap - Finglas - 2nd Kyu
