Following on
from the IKKs participation in the IFK World Kata Tournament Sensei Kevin
wanted participation in the BKK National Kata Tournament, which was held in
Reading in England on the 28th February 2004. We entered two competitors -
Maria Moran in the Women’s Brown Belt category and Sensei Shane Lalor
in the Men’s Black Belt category. This was Maria’s first Kata
Competition and she acquitted herself well although she did not place. Sensei
Shane did not fare much better but in a category that contained the world
Gold and Bronze medallists and a member of the World Silver medal team it was
always going to be hard.
In the run up to this event both competitors improved greatly and are looking
forward to preparation for the next World Kata Tournament, which is to be
held in 2007 although a venue is to be decided.
